Sensitive Tapping Kit, OMW 2567  (Discontinued)

The Sensitive Tapping Kit is designed to help you tap accurate threads when using extremely small and delicate taps. One of the challenges facing any machinist is cutting threads with extremely small taps. These taps require a very sensitive feel and break very easily if not started perfectly straight in the tap-drilled hole. Standard tap wrenches usually have too much mass, provide too much torque, and are too large to work well with small taps, as well as being difficult to start straight.

The OMW Sensitive Tapping Kit features a specially designed, light-weight tapping wrench which provides various levels of torque. A smooth smaller diameter provides an extremely sensitive feel. A larger knurled diameter provides additional torque. The wrench features a broached hole which allows tap shanks to fit snugly while preventing rotation. A larger hole in the rear of the wrench allows insertion of the guide rod (provided) to keep the wrench perfectly aligned when tapping in a lathe, mill or drill press.

The kit also includes a special designed holder which makes it easy to start taps straight, even on very small flat surfaces. A "V" groove in the back of the holder allows taps to be held perpendicular to round rods, allowing perfect tapping of cross holes and set screws. In addition, the kit includes a tap extender which fits into the tap wrench and extends the reach of the tap for tapping holes in tight or difficult to reach locations.

The OMW Sensitive Tapping Tool Kit is designed to work with taps sized 6-32 down to 0-90 or even smaller. It is designed and manufactured by OMW Corporation out of solid Aluminum alloy and hardened tool steel, and comes complete with all tools described.
