About Us

LittleMachineShop.com is a small U.S. business specializing in sourcing and selling quality machines, tooling, spare parts, and accessories for home shop machinists and small machine shops. We're also home machinists, makers, and hobbyists ourselves.

Over 20 years ago, Chris bought his first mini lathe. He was looking to create a small shop in his garage and quickly discovered that it wasn't much use without additional tooling, accessories, and replacement parts. Unfortunately, there was little information explaining exactly what was needed or where to get it, and the internet was still young. LittleMachineShop.com was started to provide the information and products that we wished we had found when we first started out.

We quickly realized there were quite a few other hobby machinists and makers out there, and lots of amazing things being made and created on these small machines. We worked with independent machinists and machine shops to bring to market a number of unique and useful tools and accessories. Inspired by the community, we also developed our own exclusive products.

Along the way, we realized the machines being manufactured could be better—with stronger motors, higher quality bearings, air springs to improve mill head movement, solid column mill design to improve rigidity, longer beds and tables to increase work area, belt drives to replace plastic gears, and numerous other improvements. So, we worked with the factories and made the machines we would want to own and called them HiTorque.

We’ve grown quite a bit, and it’s not just Chris in his workshop anymore. We’re still not a big manufacturer or distributor, though, and our only focus is on the machines, tools, accessories, and replacement parts a home machinist, maker, or hobbyist requires to be successful. We still work with and promote other small U.S. machinists and machine shops who sell innovative products.
