Collection: R8 Collets

An R8 collet is a precision clamping device designed for R8 spindle tapers, most often found in vertical milling machines, that securely holds cutting tools like end mills, drills, and reamers for accurate machining.

Install in the spindle of an R8‑taper machine:

  • Clean the spindle and collet to remove debris that could affect grip
  • Insert the collet into the spindle, aligning its keyway with the spindle’s key
  • Place the cutting tool into the collet’s bore
  • Tighten the drawbar (a threaded rod) into the collet’s top. This pulls the collet into the spindle, clamping the tool securely

An R8 collet is made from hardened alloy steel, precision‑ground to tight tolerances, and is available in multiple internal bore sizes (commonly from 1/16" to 7/8") to match different tool shanks
